ProLitteris Prize 2023: The collective management organisation ProLitteris honours two outstanding Swiss publishing houses: Limmat Verlag and Der gesunde Menschenversand

At the end of June, ProLitteris will once again award the main prize, worth 40,000 Swiss francs, and a support prize of 10,000 Swiss francs. The prize recognises outstanding achievements in literature and the arts. ‘Text and image’ are the areas of activity of the collective management organisation ProLitteris.

The award ceremony will take place following the General Assembly, at which ProLitteris will report stable revenue and reduced costs for the 2022 financial year.

The winner of the main prize, Limmat Publishing House, was selected by an independent jury comprising leading figures from the publishing world: Sabine Doerlemann, Caroline Coutau and Winfried Stephan.
Limmat Publishing House has been a stalwart of the Swiss publishing landscape for many decades. Its particular merits lie in the discovery and promotion of Swiss authors. One of the publishing house’s main focuses is on translating Swiss literature from other parts of the country and on publishing poetry. The publishing house regularly takes risks, for example with the volume *Moderne Poesie der Schweiz* (Modern Swiss Poetry), edited by Roger Perret. Founded in 1975 as a cooperative, Limmat Publishing House is now successfully managed by Erwin Künzli and Lukas Haller, who have brought a breath of fresh air to the company. A major coup this spring is the first translation of C.F. Ramuz’s climate novel *Sturz in die Sonne*.

As the recipient of the main prize, it fell to Limmat Verlag to select the winner of the sponsorship award. The choice fell on the publishing house and organiser of spoken word events, *Der gesunde Menschenversand*, founded in 1998 by Matthias Burki, amongst others.

The prize winners will be present at the awards ceremony following the ProLitteris General Assembly:

Saturday, 24 June 2023: General Assembly at 1.30 pm, awards ceremony at 3.00 pm.
Trafo Hallen, Baden.
