ProLitteris is the copyright society for literary and visual works in Switzerland and Liechtenstein. It manages usage rights, administers royalties and supports the legally compliant application of copyright in practice.
ProLitteris operates on the basis of the Swiss Copyright Act (URG) and officially approved tariffs. Clear procedures, transparent processes and a tariff-based system enable the comprehensible, efficient and legally compliant use of protected works.
ProLitteris ensures the correct use of protected works – clearly priced, legally sound and easy to understand.
Revenues are distributed appropriately and transparently to authors and publishing houses – efficiently and in accordance with established rules.
Modern technologies support the streamlined, reliable and digital handling of licensing and remuneration processes.
As a neutral interface between authors and users, ProLitteris offers expert advice and promotes a shared understanding of how to deal with copyright-protected works.
Through partnerships with foreign collective management organisations, ProLitteris ensures that rights are protected across national borders and that royalties are exchanged.
ProLitteris promotes creative work and provides social support to its members. The Social Foundation offers members financial emergency assistance and grants old-age pensions to those with long-standing membership. The Cultural Fund provides grants to projects and organisations in the fields of literature and the arts.
