ProLitteris Prize 2022: The collective management organisation ProLitteris honours outstanding journalism: Ekaterina Glikman and Federico Franchini

At the end of June, ProLitteris will once again present the main prize, worth 40,000 Swiss francs, and a sponsorship prize of 10,000 Swiss francs. The prize recognises outstanding achievements in literature and the arts: the areas of activity covered by the collective management organisation ProLitteris. The award ceremony will take place following the General Assembly. At the meeting, ProLitteris will report stable revenue for the 2021 financial year and a reduction in administrative costs. The service will be expanded and offered via a new ProLitteris portal.

The winner of the main prize, Ekaterina Glikman, was selected by an independent jury comprising leading figures in journalism: Bettina Müller (RSI), Anja Conzett (Die Republik) and Gerhard Mack (NZZ). The Russian journalist works for the independent Russian newspaper *Novaya Gazeta*. After 20 years of increasingly difficult work in Moscow, she now lives in Switzerland and works as deputy editor of *Novaya Gazeta. Europa*, an online edition launched by part of the *Novaya Gazeta* team ten days after the closure of the Moscow office on 28 March 2022 due to intensified censorship.
This dedicated journalist has recently been featured in the NZZ (article by Lucien Scherrer), Blick.ch (article by Rebecca Wyss, including a video report), the Schaffhauser Arbeiterzeitung (article by Nora Leutert) and the Schweizer Illustrierte (article by René Haenig).

As the recipient of the main prize, it fell to Ekaterina Glikman to select the winner of the encouragement prize. Based on suggestions from the jury, she chose Federico Franchini, a journalist based in Lugano. His focus is on Switzerland as a hub for international trade and the associated abuses.
